The weather gets a little warm in Austin and my family has caught the gardening bug! Stay tuned because we have several planting activities in the works which I will be sharing over the next several months as our plants sprout. This is the fun first year that we are getting into little gardening activities that we can modify to share with Brooke and I am so excited to talk to you about the Budding Gardener book made specifically for kids ages 3+. I looked and researched for several weeks until I found what I think is the perfect introductory book on gardening for kids and I am very happy I did not settle for less.
The Budding Gardener book has an introduction and five fabulous chapters that go over interesting gardening information and activities for a child. The instructions are simple, the illustrations are really cute and there are so many great ideas like using ice cube trays as seed starters. For those that rent like our family, Chapter Two talks specifically about gardening indoors and in containers! I love that. My absolute favorite chapter of the book is the chapter five Just for Fun section. It has such lovely activities like using All Five Senses in the Garden, how to make a miniature garden for imaginative play and even instructions on how to make a puzzle out of used seed packets. Brilliant! This is a perfect book to get your child excited to garden and what better way to do that than with fun family projects!
