Expert Safety Information for Parents of a New Generation

If you have ever worked at or around a FEMA call center, you realize the importance of being prepared for an emergency; although I fully admit that my level of being prepared is quite a bit different than most.  My nature is to go a little (*ahem*) overboard on preparation.  I had my hospital bag packed soon after the half-way mark of my pregnancy with Brooke.  I had a stock of the first 3 sizes of diapers in her closet before she made it home.  Embarrassingly, even though I went into labor more than a month before Brooke’s official due date, I had personalized ‘Brooke’ Labor and Delivery stickers I was able to hand out to our assisting hospital staff.  With all that said if I had to choose one thing I have never regretted buying early to prepare for Brooke’s birth it would be the Information Station.

The Information Station is a handy dandy baby safety-preparedness kit that still hangs on my refrigerator which I have filled out with Brooke-related emergency phone numbers and it includes special instructions and a safety book of information in a central location in our home.  Bob and I live far away from our immediate family and we wanted to ensure that any babysitters and temporary caregivers to Brooke would have complete access to emergency and safety information if (heaven-forbid) it was needed.  The personalized slide out safety booklet has easy-to-read tabs so you can quickly flip to a section such as ‘FIRE’ or ‘Emergency’.  There is a dry erase cover to easily jot down and erase updated safety information such as phone numbers or diet restrictions.  Although some tabs are not relevant to us anymore now that Brooke is no longer a baby, the overall product will be useful to us for many years to come.  It is just a great overall peace of mind to Bob and me that in the event we are not in the home with Brooke, the person who is has all the information for her (including things like Blood Type) that they could need in an emergency.
