Helping Kids Dine Out without the mess with safe, non-toxic, quality products

I was looking for a toxin-free pair of kid training chopsticks when I stumbled across the website Kids Dining Out.  I was interested in expanding the Montessori transfer method of using tongs and improving a child’s motor skill precision with the reward of getting a great bite of food.  Did you know that you supposedly use 30 different joints and 50 muscles when you eat with chopsticks?  Wow.  I was a late bloomer in chopstick etiquette and now it is part of the fun of the eating process for me when we have specific foods. Brooke has already watched and tried to use our adult chopsticks with slightly positive results but a little frustration and the Edison training chopsticks looked perfect.  Little did I know I would meet a like-minded momma and end up expanding my initial review to an entire Dining Out Kit for kids that is safe and toxin free!

The Dining Out Step 1 Kit offers three dining out tools and a really cute tote for easy storage for the discount price of $30.00.  You can also buy each piece individually through Jennifer’s online store.  Here’s the breakdown for my readers:

1.    Dwink Box – The adorable drink box holder has handles to help keep spills at bay.  While messy squeeze spills was not a problem for us, Brooke loved having a handle for her juice box.  The dwink word on the site of the box adds a funny touch to the contraption.  It is BPA, lead, and phthalates free and is dishwasher safe. $6.50

2.    Edison 1st Step Chopsticks (available for left or right handed children) – Training chopsticks for the under 5 crowd.  It has a stabilizing rabbit connector, angled so that it is ergonomically correct for finger gripping and has a replaceable thumb ring when your child is ready to graduate to the 2nd step.  These are the perfect first step for introducing and eating with chopsticks for younger children and Brooke and I will be making progress on them very quickly.  Chopsticks made of high-quality, non-toxic, BPA free material. $8.50

3.    Tiny Bites Food Shears – Cutting your child’s food into small bites has never been easier with these shears.  They have a tension lever, stainless-steel cutlery grade and have a child proof blade.  Bob remarked that he wished we had this set even earlier when we had to cut Brooke’s food into even smaller bites.  There are two shears in the set, so one for home use and one for your Kids Dining Out tote.  It is BPA and lead free as well as dishwasher safe. $10.50

4.    Tote Bag – Non-toxic and safe poly-canvas foil lined tote lunch bag available in blue, red or link.  I am a very ‘A place for everything and everything in its place’ person and love storage containers for kid’s items.  The bag is big enough to hold everything from the kit plus more room for snacks and personal containers.  I love the Kids Dining Out logo on the side.  Très chic!  $10.50

About Kids Dining Out Founder:  Jennifer Omuro was a stay at home mom to a toddler and preschooler when she created Kids Dining Out.  Her background as an RN for stem cell and bone marrow transplant patients for the University of Washington Medical Center showed her how chemical exposure would directly affect her patients and started her on a quest to decrease her toxin and chemical exposure. She was determined to put together safe eating products for her kids for when they dined out and she was disappointed that a lot of the products widely available were not safe.  Now an oncology nurse, Jennifer’s mission is even more important to sell toxin free, safe and quality products for kids on her website. Bravo!
