Product Review:  Mom Blogging For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech)) [Paperback]

Have you followed or read any really great parent/mom blogs and thought, “Wow!  I could do that!” but still haven’t made a leap into the public blogosphere?  Are you thinking about doing your own blog about anything related to parenthood but are still unsure of how to do it?  Like many people out there, I like to get my feet wet before I jump into the deep end and I tackled the art of internet blogging through reading before attempting a domain of my own.  My personal desire came from wanting to bring great early education products to other parents so that they would not have to do hours of research like I did in order to find a gem.  It was a simple premise that started by telling friends and family and my Yoga Moms group and then branching out somewhat slowly to companies.  However, blogs encompass so much more than my intent and the Mom Blogging for Dummies book is a great reference guide for parents wanting to know where to start.

My personal favorite topics in this book include:

• Understanding How Privacy Affects Your Family and Your Blogging Business
• Becoming a Resource to the Blogging Community
• Ten Blogging Mistakes to Avoid

There are great little tips are sprinkled throughout the book which makes it a worthwhile read.  Check out the Dummies.com page that includes a great cheat sheet about this book and includes a nice little section on Protecting Your Blog from Copyright Infringement.  Chapter 18 is a section of Ten Successful Mom Bloggers, which is both insightful and witty and gives a great look into why moms started blogging in the first place and how becoming successful at it really does take a lot of time and effort.

Dads:  Do not be turned off by the ‘Mom’ title of the book!  The tips in this book would work great for any parent interested in starting their own blog.
