Product Review:  SmartyPants Vitamins (Age 3+)

Daily vitamins for kids have come a long way since I took a daily huge orange-disk chewable that looked like horse pills.  Oh, how I hated them!  I saw an ad for gummy vitamins called SmartyPants (www.smartypantsvitamins.com) in O Magazine in November and I was interested.  There was something that intrigued me about a gummy vitamin that was a Multivitamin plus Omega3s and Vitamin D.  Brooke’s pediatrician is constantly telling us the importance of everyone (adults included) getting enough Vitamin D.  The vitamins are naturally flavored, do not have high fructose corn syrup and has just 5 g of Organic cane sugar per serving.  The recommended serving for age 3 and up is 4 gummies per day (20 g organic cane sugar total per day) and adult serving is 6 per day.  The site recommends giving them a few times throughout the day such as in the morning, in lunchboxes, or afternoon snacks.

The adults do not have to miss out on the fun, since SmartyPants offers vitamins for grownups!  The vitamins have a nice tart flavor with a small hint of a sugary after-taste.  It really is not like eating vitamins even though you know you are getting them in each bite.  I was pleasantly surprised and am happy to switch my morning pill to a few gummies a day.  Fantastic!

There are several things that put the SmartPants gummy vitamin above the rest from other kid’s vitamins.  They have single serving SmartPants packets for on the go which I think is great.  SmartyPants are also sold through Amazon.com, Drugstore.com and Diapers.com and if you buy directly from the site you get free shipping for purchases more than 25 dollars.  Be sure to check out their Vitamin Angels program where the company donates a month’s worth of vitamins to children in need for every bottle sold.
